Open Educational Resources

Grant Funding

Applications for OER Grant funding are open until January 30, 2026

The OER Grant program provides faculty and instructors (full-time and part-time) an opportunity to revise their UT courses to replace costly learning materials with OER. Five different applications are available based on the scope of your project. Information for each is available below.

An additional application window may open in Fall 2026, if funds allow.

Application Types

Adopt Grant

Typical Adopt projects may involve: selecting and adopting existing OER content that doesn’t need any modification, or very mild modification such as migrating resources into Pressbooks, and modifying your course to utilize the adopted OER.

Typical Funding – $2000 per course

I thought Title III funding was just for GE courses?

Originally, our focus was just on a specific set of GE courses. We’ve recently learned that we could open up funding for all courses to show the campus wide adoption of OER, which is something the grantor likes to see since Title III is a capacity building grant. We are excited to be supporting a wider interest of OER across campus! Due to this we are creating an application process to help manage workload.

I've already been told my department has funding already? Or, I'm already doing an OER project funded by Title III

If your department has been working or discussing an OER project already with Emma Lanners your budget has been kept separate from this general call for proposals. Your project will continue as normal. Any questions please reach out!
