Utah Tech University

Open Educational Resources (OER)

No Textbook Cost

Imagine a path to an associate’s degree without ever buying a textbook.

At Utah Tech University, we’re working to reduce the cost of higher education by converting courses to OER. In these courses, faculty provide students free and engaging learning materials in place of a traditional textbook.

What is OER?

Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and re-purposing by others.

What is an OER course?

A course designed by faculty that does not require students to purchase a textbook, pay for inclusive access, or pay for online subscriptions. ALL learning materials in the course are free.
