Open Educational Resources (OER)

REGISTER FOR OER COURSES

What is an OER course?

Open Educational Resources (OER) courses are courses designed by your professors with FREE learning materials. You won’t have to buy a textbook for the class. That’s right, ALL learning materials in an OER course are free.

How do I register for OER courses?

To find and register for OER courses go to MY UT, and look for courses marked “No Textbook Cost”.

If you register for a course with this attribute, you won’t have to buy a textbook. *

*Due to human error, it is possible for some classes to be marked “No Textbook Cost” when they are not an OER course. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience, as we continue to work on accuracy.

How do I advocate for OER at Utah Tech?

  1. Thank a professor for providing free learning materials for a course you’ve taken.
  2. Share your OER success story with an administrator and ask that OER initiatives on campus continue to be funded.
  3. Celebrate with us in March at the encampment mall for Open Ed Week, where we will have games and prizes and general OER information to share.
