We’re excited to help you save money on textbooks this semester!

How to Register for OER Courses

Follow these steps after you begin the registration process.

1. Click 'Advanced Search'

Once you have selected the semester you are registering for, and you are on the main search page, find the ‘Advanced Search’ button towards the bottom of the screen.

2. Find the 'Attribute' Search Bar

Once you have located the ‘Attribute’ search bar, click on it and type “No Textbook Cost”.

3. Select 'Search'

You can click ‘Search’ to view all the classes that have No Textbook Costs or you can fill out other search options to find more specific classes.

4. Register for your classes

Classes marked with the icon pictured on the right should have no textbook costs or inclusive access fees associated with them, so that money is available for you to spend on other things.*

 

*Due to human error, it is possible for some classes to be marked “No Textbook Cost” when they are not an OER course. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience as we work on accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does every class have an OER option?

Unfortunately, not every class has an OER option available.

I am a faculty member who teaches an OER Course and I noticed that my course is not marked as 'No Textbook Cost' in Banner. How do I fix that?

Please contact your admin assistant to add the ‘No Textbook Cost’ attribute to your course.

How do I advocate for OER at Utah Tech?
  1. Thank a professor for providing free learning materials for a course you’ve taken.
  2. Share your OER success story with an administrator and ask that OER initiatives on campus continue to be funded.
  3. Celebrate with us in March for Open Ed Week, where we will have snacks, activities, and general OER information to share.
